Gazprom agrees on additional gas exports to China in 2023

MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom and China’s CNPC have signed an amendment to their contract for additional natural gas supplies through the so-called eastern route, or the Sila Sibiri (Power of Siberia) pipeline, in 2023, Gazprom said in a statement on Thursday.

“A working meeting of (Gazprom CEO) Alexei Miller and Chairman of CNPC’s board of directors Dai Houliang has been held in Beijing. The parties discussed a wide range of aspects of bilateral strategic cooperation,” the company said.

“During the meeting, Gazprom and CNPC signed an additional agreement to the gas purchase contract for the eastern route on additional amounts of Russian gas supplies to China until the end of 2023.”

Miller said as quoted by the company that exports to China have already grown by 46.6% this year, and that Gazprom was ready to raise the exports even further.
